Del Mar Race Track - Where The Turf Meets The Surf!

In the seaside city of Del Mar California, which is approximately 20 miles north of San Diego, lies the very popular Del Mar race track. Its slogan "Where the Turf Meets the Surf" is well known throughout the horse world and sites like firstbythepost.com. Located in the Del Mar Fairgrounds, this American Thoroughbred horse racing track boasts a capacity for 44,000 fans. It was built in 1937 and was opened with Bing Crosby personally greeting fans at the gates. Seabiscuit, one of the most renowned horses of all time, won his infamous race back in 1938 on this course. Annually, the nation's most legendary and talented horses, jockeys, trainers and handlers converge onto the fairgrounds to try their luck.
